Pendulum
I’m feeling fine,
You calmly say.
Your life is good
And you’re okay.

You realize.
Your heart is bright
As sunny skies.

You start to think
As all your spirits
Slowly sink.
You’re well again.
Your soul’s content.
But then you’re hit
With pure resent.

You’re grinning wide,
Until a rage
Fills you inside.
One minute, you feel
You could fly.
The next, you’re trying
Not to cry.
It comes and goes,
An endless track.
You think you’re fine.
And suddenly, whack:
The pendulum
Comes swinging back.
My Heroine
Woman of wonder is she.
Only her family can truly understand.
Night and day, she cares for us,
Defending, nursing, teaching, loving,
Every day, without question or fail,
Rescuing us like a superhero.
What a wonder she is, that
One woman I admire above all others.
My mother is a blessing, for she is
Always there for me, and she
Never lets me doubt how much she loves me!

Summer Heat
I do so love the winter cold,
With weather brisk and sweet.
But when I freeze too long,
I start to miss the summer heat.
For when the warmest months arrive
And bring the scorching sun,
It’s time to set your work aside
And start the summer fun.
The beaches fill with people
Seeking peace along the shore.
With white sands and clear blue waters,
They could hardly ask for more.
The laughs of many children
Can be heard throughout the day.
Vacation time has started
And they’re finally free to play.
The scent of fresh cut grass
Will begin to fill the air,
While a hundred ice cream flavors
Will be tasted everywhere.
I do so love the summer heat,
With weather bright and bold.
But when I burn too long…
I start to miss the winter cold.
Passion
Kiss these tender lips
Tremble as the heart flutters
Ardently in love
Fire burns within
Rage erupts in violence
Feel the seething hate
Unending cycle
First a blessing, then a curse
Passion knows no bounds
A Great Man
A good man is noble
In every which way.
He’s kind and he’s generous
Day after day.
A good man is smart,
And he truly is wise.
You can tell what he knows
By the light in his eyes.
A good man is joyful.
He laughs frequently.
Yet he also works hard
For his dear family.
Well, I know a man
Who is all of these things.
A great man who, in my eyes,
Could stand among kings.
For a great man is rare
Among plain good and bad.
And the greatest I know
Is the man I call Dad.
